In our most simple expression of being church, we encourage getting together in same gender groups of two or three for an hour or so a week, in order to be reading sections of the Bible together, praying for specific people and needs, and encouraging each other with honest conversations about life and personal challenges. These groups don’t have a leader (though it’s fine for someone to organize and coordinate your schedule for meetings). When the group grows beyond three people, it’s time to start a new group, so that each one has plenty of time to share and listen. Soul Groups are simple, yet powerful. They integrate the values of community, life transformation, and reproduction of disciples of Jesus.
